How Age Is Calculated
International age depends on whether your birthday has passed this year, and has been the sole legal standard in Korea since June 2023. Year age is calculated as 'reference year − birth year' regardless of birthday, and is still used in some laws such as military service law. Korean age is a traditional method that counts the birth year as age 1; it no longer has any legal effect.
